FRISCO, CA — The Conneaut Telephone Company, a telecom provider serving business and residential customers in northeastern Ohio, has selected key components of SMART CORE solution from GENBAND, a developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, to expand its offerings with the latest IP business services. The C15 Call Session Controller is being deployed to enable the growing service provider to offer hosted business voice and applications to businesses of all sizes while simultaneously supporting triple play offerings for residential and cable customers over its fiber optic network.

“The GENBAND C15 provides the perfect blend of technology we need to retain our legacy TDM-copper customers, while helping us ramp up a new, IP-centric product line for enterprise customers and for residential fiber-to-the-home build-outs,” said Ken Johnson, general manager, Conneaut Telephone Company. “The flexibility of GENBAND’s SMART CORE solution has enabled us to vault over the competition and the virtual IP PBX deployment is already showing strong results, having delivered our first major enterprise customer.”

Bridging Yesterday’s Services to Tomorrow’s IP-based Technology
The widely-deployed C15 supports a variety of standard protocols, interfaces and features to concurrently enable both IP and legacy services. The IMS-ready call session controller is ideally suited for small and medium-sized service providers who are looking to bridge yesterday’s services to tomorrow’s IP-based technology.

“The Conneaut Telephone Company is an established telecom provider whose rich history of trust and dependability is matched by its innovation and drive,” said John Ryan, Senior Vice President of the Americas for GENBAND. “By enhancing their service offering with the GENBAND C15, Conneaut is well-positioned to offer advanced applications and deliver a solid value proposition to their customers, while future-proofing their network. Additionally, Conneaut’s enterprise customers gain the value of incremental advanced communications services and reduced overall costs enabled by a hosted offering, allowing them to focus on their business and not the network.”
